摘要:芯片的计算速度取决于晶体管的集成密度。在上世纪六十年代中期,戈登摩尔提出摩尔定律,即晶体管的密度能在一年半或两年的周期里翻一番。随着时间的变化和新技术的更迭,这种增长速度在50年来首次放缓,摩尔定律进入后摩尔定律时代。石侃博士将为大家带来芯片革命:人工智能与大数据时代的加速引擎,他首先介绍可编程芯片在AI时代的独特优势;其次介绍计算机体系结构,提出何时是摩尔定律的终点的疑问以及在摩尔定律的黄昏如何保持计算机性能的不断进步和后摩尔定律的新型计算范式;最后介绍2019年芯片工业界的最新进展与展望。

 

主讲嘉宾介绍:石侃,博士毕业于伦敦帝国理工大学电子工程系,现任英特尔公司资深芯片研发工程师,微信公众号“老石谈芯”主理人。在工业界,石侃一直深耕基于可编程芯片的数据中心网络加速、网络功能虚拟化、高速有线网络通信等领域的研发和创新工作,有丰富从业经验。在学术界,石侃曾经针对可编程逻辑芯片、近似计算、计算机数学等方向在学界顶级会议和期刊上发表过多篇研究论文,并两次获得欧盟HiPEAC论文奖。

Abstract:

The computing speed of a chip depends on the integration density of the transistors. In the mid-1960s, Gordon Moore proposed Moore’s Law, which states that the density of transistors can double in cycles of one and a half or two years. With the change of time and the change of new technologies, this growth rate slowed down for the first time in 50 years, and Moore’s Law entered the post-Moore’s Law era. Dr. Shi Kan will bring you the chip revolution: the acceleration engine in the era of artificial intelligence and big data. He first introduces the unique advantages of programmable chips in the AI ​​era; secondly, he introduces the computer architecture and asks when is the end of Moore’s Law? And how to maintain the continuous progress of computer performance and the new computing paradigm after Moore’s Law in the twilight of Moore’s Law; finally, introduce the latest progress and prospects of the chip industry in 2019.

 

Speaker introduction:

Kan Shi, graduated from the Department of Electronic Engineering of Imperial College London with a Ph.D., is currently a senior chip R&D engineer at Intel Corporation, and the principal of the WeChat public account “Laoshi Tanxin”. In the industrial world, Shi Kan has been deeply engaged in R&D and innovation in the fields of data center network acceleration, network function virtualization, and high-speed wired network communication based on programmable chips, and has extensive experience in the industry. In academia, Shi Kan has published many research papers in top academic conferences and journals on programmable logic chips, approximate computing, computer mathematics, etc., and won the EU HiPEAC Paper Award twice.
